The National Institute of Fisheries Research (INRH), held its Executive Board on Wednesday, February 21 in Agadir, under the chairmanship of Mr. Aziz AKHANNOUCH, Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Waters and Forests and in the presence of Ms Mbarka Bouaida, Secretary of State for Fisheries, as well as representatives of administrations and professional organizations in the fisheries sector, members of the Council.
This council was an opportunity to present the action plan of the INRH's scientific research activities for 2018 to support the sustainable development of the fishing sector in aligning the objectives of the Halieutis strategy. These activities mainly concern inventory monitoring and evaluation, health, oceanographic and environmental monitoring as well as aquaculture research.
During the discussions, the professionals, members of the council, representatives of various fishing activities welcomed the great progress made in the field of maritime research in Morocco thanks to the importance that granted it in the framework of the Halieutis strategy. It also emphasized the central role that research plays today and on INRH's efforts to restore confidence and enhance the reliability of its work.
Stakeholders also noted the positive results recorded in the management of the resource, which resulted in the reinforcement of several stocks including cephalopods, algae, small pelagics, bluefin tuna, etc., as well as the recovery of certain species and the development of new fisheries.
The Executive Board finally took note of the program of scientific action for 2018 and adopted the budget for the year 2018.
